Born March 4, 1954, in Toronto, O'Hara parlayed that success into a career encompassing television, film and voice work. Building on her "Second City" exposure, O'Hara played the family matriarch in Beetlejuice (1988) and the popular Home Alone franchise. She also lent her voice to animated features such as The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Over the Hedge (2006).
In 1996, O'Hara starred in the indie classic Waiting for Guffman -- the first of three mockumentaries she would make with director Christopher Guest, including Best in Show (2000) and A Mighty Wind (2003). An Emmy winner for her writing contributions to "SCTV," O'Hara was later nominated for her acting skills in the HBO drama Temple Grandin (2010).
