Gérard Depardieu stars as famed French novelist Alexandre Dumas in this expansive biopic about Dumas's professional partnership with Auguste Maquet (Benoît Poelvoorde), his longtime co-writer -- and uncredited collaborator. Mélanie Thierry co-stars as the woman who comes between them, with Dominique Blanc playing the part of Dumas's rightfully bitter lover. The plot is based on the 2003 stage play "Signe Dumas."
