Claudette Colbert turns on the charm in this duo of breezy romantic comedies set in France: I Met Him in Paris (1937) and the Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett-scripted farce Bluebeard's Eighth Wife (1938). The first finds fashion designer Colbert visiting the City of Lights, where she's pursued by two would-be suitors (Melvyn Douglas and Robert Young). In the second, Colbert falls for a millionaire who's been married seven times (Gary Cooper).
