Parisian actors work to keep their beloved theater afloat in the wake of the turmoil gripping the city in the spring of 1936, as organized labor gains power in France and citizens worry about the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany. After a mobster takes over the theater, Pigoil (Gérard Jugnot) and two buddies bring it back to life with a beautiful singer (Nora Arnezeder) headlining, but personal and political tensions complicate matters.
