Ashamed by the infant's "deformity," a couple hands over their newborn child, a eunuch, to a group of castrates, who raise the baby -- named Shabnam -- as a girl, educating her and imparting their culture and traditions. As an adult, Shabnam (Ashutosh Rana, in a powerful performance) takes hold of her destiny, using her smarts, decency and grace to ultimately win over the society that once cast her out.
