Oz author L. Frank Baum directed and produced the silent His Majesty, the Scarecrow of Oz, which follows Dorothy and her friends as they try to save a princess from King Krewl, the witch Mombi and the unsuitable suitor Googly-goo. Comedians Oliver Hardy and Larry Semon add slapstick to the 1925 version of The Wizard of Oz, in which Dorothy learns she's really a queen and is whisked by a tornado from Kansas to Oz, where an evil king awaits.
