This long-overdue documentary about the unsung "combat artists" of World War II is wonderful viewing. Dispatched to the battlefield armed with paintbrushes (as well as Browning Automatic Rifles), they were ordered to capture the glory of the American forces on canvas. Narrated by Jason Robards, the film draws heavily on interviews, raw film footage and the actual artworks (many of which have not been viewed since they were painted).
