Burgess Meredith reprises his Broadway performance as Mio Romagna, the son of an immigrant, in this adaptation of Maxwell Anderson's play. Mio's politically radical father was falsely accused of stealing a payroll and executed. Years later, Mio tries to clear his father's name. He tracks down the judge who sentenced his father to death and finds the man drowning his guilt with alcohol. Eduardo Ciannelli, John Carradine and Margo also star.
