Director Henry Koster's 1937 musical was honored with an Academy Award for Best Score the following year, and it's no wonder: The tunes it spawned are catchy and delightful, especially as performed by the incomparable Deanna Durbin, who plays a musician who rallies other unemployed performers to form a symphony. The road to fame and fortune is pockmarked with problems, but it eventually leads to rollicking success.
