Sam (Anthony Franciosa) and Maury (Dean Martin) toil in small theater productions while trying to make it big on Broadway. But when Maury refuses to cast Sam in a new show, Sam steals Maury's girlfriend (Shirley MacLaine) and sets off to make it on his own. Just when things are looking up for Sam, he's sent off to Korea, and when he returns he finds that he's been blacklisted for associating with communist Maury. The film earned three Oscar nods.
