A 1978 Grand Jury Prize winner at the Cannes Film Festival, this hauntingly symbolic film follows two oddball foreigners living in a rundown section of New York City. Gerard Lafayette (Gérard Depardieu) works as a lighting technician, while Luigi Nocello (Marcello Mastroianni) tries desperately to get a date. When an orphaned baby chimpanzee enters the picture, it drastically changes their existence and affects the lives of those around them.
